Bed Purchase and Random Shots

What kind of wood is this made of?

India ma’am

It is made in India?

Yes.

Do you know what kind of wood they used?

Indian wood ma’am

Pause - all right. When will it be delivered?

In one month.

It will take one month to deliver this bed? 

Of course ma’am

There is another store in the city that is closer to our house, would delivery be faster from them?

No ma’am, same time 13 days.

But you said it would take a month.

No, (long sigh), ma’am it will take 13 days.

This bed will arrive at our house in 13 days? 

Of course ma’am. 13 days in a month. So it will arrive next Thursday.

Thursday? This coming Thursday? 

Of course ma’am 13 days. If you want I can phone a carpenter to put it together when it is delivered.

On Thursday.

Yes ma’am.

- Fortunately the man walked away to do something and another sales lady processed our sale and gave us MUCH more information. We may or may not have a bed arrive this Thursday (or any day). We’ll keep you posted.

Freckles - you can't really see them in this photo but we both have a LOT of freckles at the moment. 
I am finding that my feet swell quite nicely in the heat. Although this picture does not really do it justice, by the end of the day I could have auditioned for a Hobbit foot cameo in a Lord of the Rings movie.

Wonderful Visit Part 1

It was wonderful having the Hogans here for a visit. Their timing was perfect as I was starting to get a little squirrelly and we had household rearranging to do (of course)** as a bonus, we really like spending time with them. :) 

 

**In the few months before we left Calgary Tim and Kir were always willing to help with any moving/lifting/painting/dump run events that were needed (thanks guys we REALLY appreciated it). So it was only natural that they would come to Dubai when we had some more moving to do.  In this case we had just received our shipment from Calgary and wanted to do some rearranging so that everything would fit. I (Andrea) am having trouble lifting heavy things for one reason or another so we were more than happy to have the Hogan moving crew show up. Good timing guys! 

Here are some pictures of our visit: 

 It is a good thing we lived with all of our basement furniture in our living room in Calgary, as it is the same feeling here (minus the gargantuan television). 

During their visit we found some really neat places that Bruce and I had yet to explore. For instance there is a new indoor souk built inside of Wafi Mall. Here is a picture of the ceiling. 

Embarrassingly enough, Bruce and I had yet to visit the beach here. We are certainly not expert tanners, and I was having some trouble regulating my temperature. However, when the Hogans arrived the weather cooperated and cooled down nicely (highs of 35) and we were on the beach from 8:30am until 11am one morning. Swimming, eating, frisbee, and shade sitting were all on the docket - I was really good at the eating and sitting in the shade. My swimming involved floating around like a huge buoy due to the incredible saltiness of the water which emphasized my already buoyant body. Seriously, I could have acted like one of those floaty mats for somebody. Come to think of it, why didn't we try that? 

I had to sneak these shots as cameras are not allowed on the beach. 

WOW!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the baby shower in a suitcase. It was totally unexpected and overwhelming (in a good way). We feel loved and incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful support network of friends.

Pictures to come…okay the real story here is that our internet is S-L-O-W so it is quite time consuming and difficult to post pictures. I will make an effort later this week.

The Hogans are here! The Hogans are here!

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the lack of posts lately...and most likely you will be disappointed with this short one.
Having a great time visiting with the Hogans. All is going well. Will post more when the internet will let us download pictures (we have 2-5kb/sec at the moment). Today we are off to Wild Wadi.
