We are doing well here in Dubai. Finally getting our internal clocks adjusted to 10hrs ahead. We took it easy for the first couple of days, as everything seemed a little overwhelming. The driving is the funniest part. Everyone races everywhere as fast as they can (I'm talking 100km/h on side streets). The other day our cab driver tried to race and out maneuver a Ferrari.
"Yes buddy, you almost have him in your crappy toyota cab that is governed at 120km/h"
We are staying in a hotel apartment near the marina. It is quite a beautiful place, it just opened a month ago. They are not running at full occupancy so the workers are trying to stay busy and the service is a little much. One day we were asked if we wanted our place cleaned 3 times (one at 11pm). Thank goodness for Do Not Disturb signs.
We have a beautiful kitchen but no pots or pans etc. Knives and forks fine, but anything to prepare food with is missing. The hotel seemed genuinely surprised when we asked for a pot and pan. "you want to cook in your kitchen?"
We are thinking of you all.
Andrea and Bruce
